Polyethylene is a thermoplastic used in a wide variety of products. It takes its name from ethylene in monomer form, and polyethylene is produced using ethylene. In the plastic industry, its name is generally used as PE.

Polyethylene is classified in various categories based on its density and chemical properties. HDPE is a high density polyethylene material obtained from petroleum. Its name comes from the abbreviation of the English word 'High Density Polyethylene'. Approximately, 1 kg HDPE raw material is obtained from 1.75 kg petroleum. HDPE has very good resistance to water and chemicals. Its mechanical properties are also very good, especially its resistance to impact and pulling is high. Normally the tensile strength is around 225 - 350 kgf / cm2. Temperature resistance is up to 50 ° C.

HDPE, which has a wide usage area, is used in the production of pressure pipes, gas distribution pipes, white goods and machine parts, electrical and electronic equipment.

General Features of PE Pipe

  • HDPE 100 Pipes stand out with their high quality. Our PE 100 drinking water pipes are produced from 3rd generation HDPE products, which is the latest in developing petrochemical technology.
  • HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) In other words, High Density Polyethylene with the Turkish expression emerged in 1950.
  • While the environmental stress values of PE pipes initially pointed to 3.2 Mpa, this product developed over time has become PE100 by being oxidized to 6.3 - 8.0 and 10.0 Mpa values.
  • PE 100 pipes, HDPE pipes, the increase of these values means as follows. High environmental stress value is a stronger raw material structure, which provides more water transmission by obtaining more durable pipes with thinner wall thickness.
  • As NETBOR, we closely follow the developments in our quality laboratories and constantly conduct research. Our PE 100 pipes are produced at the highest quality up to 16 - 1600 mm.
  • Thanks to the properties of polyethylene, it makes it one of the best alternatives among pipe types used in pressurized clean water systems. They are used in the construction of underground and surface pressurized water network lines, sea discharge projects, fish breeding farm production cages.
  • Since the early 1990s, PE100 raw material pipes have the following advantages, providing both high performance and an economical solution to the usage area in drinking and utility water networks.

Production and Operational Features

  • Diversity in pressure class; It can be produced in 10 different pressure classes from PN4 to PN32.
  • Multiple connection types are available (butt welding, electro fusion welding, push socket etc.).
  • Its minimum lifespan is 50 years, but it deteriorates in nature in 1000 years. Operating expenses are very low as it does not require maintenance.
  • Its inner surface is hydraulic smooth. The pipe diameter used while projecting is minimized and it consumes less electrical energy while operating. Operating expenses are reduced.
  • It does not break out of joints under pressure, it provides absolute sealing.
  • It does not change the color, odor and taste of the water, so it is suitable for health.
  • It is not possible for plant and tree roots to enter the pipes.

Physical and Chemical Properties

  • Thanks to its high wear resistance, it is not affected by corrosion, does not rot or wear.
  • The chemical resistance of PE100 pipe material is high. It can serve in acidic, basic and salty environments. (See Chemical Resistance Chart)
  • High crack resistance and impact resistance.
  • It is not affected by sunlight (UV resistance) due to the presence of carbon black (carbon black).
  • Since PE100 pipes have high wall flexibility, they are the least affected by water hammer.

Size and Weight Chart

Diameters ranging from 16 mm to 1600 mm, PN4 (4 atm) - PN32 (32 atm) pressure classes, those up to 110 mm (110 not included) can be produced as coils or lengths. Those with a diameter greater than 110 mm are generally produced in 13.5 m lengths, and optionally in 6 and 12 m lengths.

Oxidation of the environmental stress value of the PE 100 product to 10.0 Mpa creates a stronger raw material. Since the increase of this value indicates that the strength increases, it means that the wall thickness becomes thinner for the same pressure class. This means that the value of the inner diameter of PE 100 pipe increases with raw material savings. Improvements in these values increase its market share as it offers a cost advantage over alternative products.
